- Single-Arm Dumbbell Row
This dumbbell exercise will help you to work on your back muscles effectively. The exercise needs a single dumbbell and a squat bench.
Start by keeping your left knee and left hand on the bench. Put your right leg on the floor. Make sure that your legs are under your hip and your hand is under your shoulder. Pick the appropriate weight of dumbbell and pick it up with your right hand keeping the other hand in line with your shoulder.
Make sure to keep your body still. Repeat on the other side.
- Cuban Press
You can work on your shoulders with the Cuban press. A fun dumbbell exercise that will get you started towards strengthening your shoulders.
Hold dumbbells in both your hands. Choose a weight that you can handle. Keep your feet apart and in line with your hips. Raise your dumbbells in a way that your elbows are bent at 90 degrees keeping them in line with your shoulders. Your palms must face down. Rotate your hands to bring them in line with your ears and press them over your head.
Bring your hands back down in the same pattern but a controlled manner. Repeat the exercise to get a good burn. Remember to keep your body still and squeeze your core.
- Dumbbell Lateral Raise
If you want to work on your upper back and shoulder muscles, don’t forget to do dumbbell lateral raises. This is quite a simple exercise but will give you a good burn.
Hold the dumbbells in both your hands. Choose a weight that you can handle. Keep your feet hip-width apart. Pick up your dumbbells and raise them on your side. Keep your hands in line with your shoulders and parallel to the floor. Bring your hands down in a controlled manner.
Remember to always keep your chest still.
